New Assimilate Carts Available at Airwalk Studios!

I’ve had some people email me asking about new runs of carts.  Most likely, I will not do my own run of carts again.  However, the capable proto-builder William “Taco” Thornton has partnered with Adam Welch of Airwalk Studios to start their own run of Assimilate carts with my permission.  These guys do great work.  So if you’ve been playing the Assimilate ROM and really want to play it on your NES but don’t have a PowerPak or other similar means, by all means purchase a cart from my friends at Airwalk!

You can get to the Airwalk Studios store here.  It’s $37.50 for a cart.  No manual is included, but you can find play instructions on this site under the download tab.  While on the Airwalk site, check out some of Adam’s other projects, like Affinity:Sorrow and Hangman SG.  Also check out NES Virus Cleaner by my pal Roth.

Full download ROM is now available!

As promised, the full game minus a few bonuses is now available in downloadable ROM form.  Simply head over to the download page (the “download/play game” tab above) to get hold of it.  Thanks to all who bought carts and to those who continue to play the game in cart and ROM form.  I can’t tell you how much the support means to me.

Full ROM Will Be Out Soon

The other day I shipped the last available cart from the 2nd run.  For those who missed out on ordering, my plan is to have the full ROM available to download and play on emulators by the end of August, possibly sooner.  I will keep everyone posted.  For now, of course, the limited demo is still available.

To remind everyone, the full ROM will contain all main levels from the game and all of the boss fights.  The only thing that will not be included is a special unlockable bonus level, known as the NA Campout Level, that is only available on the carts.  I want to give everyone who’s ordered the second run a chance to play the game first, and then will upload the game to allow all others access to it.

Next Batch of Carts to Be Shipped Out Today

If you ordered a hard copy of Assimilate after I started my second run of carts, your order will be shipping today.  Thank you all for your orders and your patience in waiting for these to get out.  If there are any problems with your order once it arrives, please email me ASAP.

2nd Run – Please Read Before Ordering

New Units Added — 2nd Run (Please Read Before Ordering)

I am doing a second run of Assimilate.  The thing that’s different with this run is I’m doing it on a complete pre-order basis.  I will be taking orders for this run until May 18th, and then on that date I will start placing my own orders with the suppliers for the parts.

That means the people who order in this run will have a longer wait than those who ordered on the last run.  It will take the suppliers at least a couple weeks to get the carts and materials to me, and then I’ll need to process them and get them sent out.  So those who order on this run will probably be waiting until early or mid June to actually receive their Assimilate copies depending on where they are located.

Sorry for the odd way of handling this second run.  The reason I’m doing it this way is because I pay for everything up front.  Therefore, to avoid possibly over-estimating how many units I’ll actually need and ending up with a bunch of unsold merchandise, I am instead collecting orders first for a period of time so I know exactly how many to order.

Those interested in purchasing a cart on the second run may do so on the sales page:

As always, thank you all for your support.

Partial Demo Posted

I just posted the partial demo for those of you who’d like to try the game out.  It should play on most NES emulators, but the ones I’d recommend would be Nintendulator, FCE Ultra, and Nestopia.

To download the ROM, simply click on the “dowload/play demo” at the top menu, or click here.  Hope you enjoy the demo.

The firs run has essentially sold out.  I’ve got a couple more CIBs, but will most likely have those gone to people on the waiting list, as well.  If you are interested in getting yourself to the waiting list for a possible second run, please email me.

EDIT 3-29-12:  I completely forgot to add instructions on how to play.  Those have been added to the download page right below the download link.

March 17th, 2012: Release Day is Here!!!

Today’s the day.  Almost two years after I started work on a little NES homebrew project, the game it grew into is burned into ROM chips within 100+ carts, packed in many, many flat rate boxes, and on it’s way to those of you who have been ordering over the last few weeks.  I do have a handful I wasn’t able to get packed and shipped by today, but the vast majority were dropped off at the Post Office today and the rest should be on their way Monday or Tuesday at the absolute latest.

For the umpteenth-millionth time, I have to thank all of you who ordered or have supported this project in many other ways.  Assimilate’s development has been very fun, and all you who were interested in it made it even better.  I sincerely hope you all enjoy the game!

All 111 carts produced in the first run.  Together for the first and last time.

And here they are on the way to the Post Office, soon to be on their way to all of you.
